Big Slick's 2005 NL Holdem World Cup
Held at: www.pokerstars.com

-

The Big Slick is the "Iron Man Triathlon" of all of the current No-limit Holdem poker tournaments in the world today. It is a grueling 52-week series of matches that eventually crowns a World Champion at the end of each year. For current point standings Check Here This tournament is not for someone who plays online only once a month. There is 1 match every week on each Saturday. It is structured so you can miss a week and not be too far out of the running.

Tournament Rules and Regulations

Please note: This website is NOT engaged in the act of running a gambling establishment on the Internet. We are not part of the Poker Stars Incorporation. This website only serves to provide a forum for people who play poker and offers honorary awards for our members based on their performance in said tournaments. Since the Poker Stars software checks your local age requirements, we assume that if you are a registered player at Poker Stars that you are of legal age in your community to participate. In any event, you must be at least 18 years old to join our website.
-
  • If you are a visitor, you are more than welcome to join our free forum. We just ask that you register. Entry into our Forum is private and not open to the general public to browse. We have chosen that option to prevent spammers and trouble makers from posting nuisance messages.

  • All tournaments will be at the Tournaments/Private tab of Poker Stars.

  • The buy-in for each weekly tournament is $20+2.

  • A password for entry into the Poker Stars event will be sent out by email, and also posted in our forum for registered members.

  • There will be 52 tournaments on each Saturday of 2005 starting precisely at 4pm EST.

  • The first day of the tournament season will be Saturday, January 8th, 2005.

  • The last day of the tournament season will be Saturday, December 31st, 2005.

  • After the last weekly tournament is completed, we will add up all of the points accumulated and crown the 2005 Champion.

  • We will also give out awards to some of the top finishers based on performance points.

  • Points are accumulated for those who place "in the money" in each weekly tournament. These points will add to crown a 2005 champion. The points will be weighted to reflect the number of players in each tournament. That way, if a player joins the field in June he would still have a fair chance to win the 2005 total points. A large field of players would net more points than small field of players. Yes, it is beneficial to join now and start accumulating points early. However, it is entirely feasible someone could come in midway and still take the championship if they are a very good player.

All Calculations Rounded off to Nearest 1/100

Example of Points Calculation for Situation #1
(n) Number of Entrants = 18
(k) Place of Finish = 1
Points = 10*[√18/√1]
Points = 10*[4.24/1]
Points = 10*4.24
Points = 40.24

Example of Points Calculation for Situation #2
(n) Number of Entrants = 65
(k) Place of Finish = 1
Points = 10*[√65/√1]
Points = 10*[8.06/1]
Points = 10*8.06
Points = 80.60

Example of Points Calculation for Situation #3
(n) Number of Entrants = 125
(k) Place of Finish = 9
Points = 10*[√125/√9]
Points = 10*[11.18/3]
Points = 10*3.73
Points = 30.73

HOW TO JOIN TO PLAY FOR THE 2005 CHAMPIONSHIP

  • Register for our Free Forum. Use your exact Poker Stars username on our forum to make record keeping easier. Please don't use your Poker Stars password. We want no inference of being able to access your account there. Although the passwords for this forum are encrypted and we cannot access them, we want to be totally out of the loop should your Poker Stars account get hacked. If you don't wish to use your Poker Stars username for the forum, just make sure we can connect your forum name to your Poker Stars name.
  • There is a $20 in-house registration fee (See prizes at bottom of page) to become eligible for this tournament during each calendar year. This fee is separate from the weekly $20+2 Poker Stars entry fee. Click on the yellow "Join Now" splash below to pay that fee. If you want to make a Poker Stars money transfer for the entry fee, contact admin@ace10.com and we can help.
  • Your registration will be processed as soon as possible. However, it may take as long as 48 hours to get access to the 2005 Big Slick's Private section of the forum. You will see the 2005 BIG SLICK badge when you make a post. This identifies you as a player.

  • Keep a copy of your receipt of payment for the tournament in an email folder, or save it as a text (.txt) file to your desktop for future reference.
  • After you have registered, Click Here and fill out a simple form. This way we can properly credit you with your registration fee, and track your points towards the cup.

  • Your $20 registration fee (less a $0.88 processing fee we have to pay to take credit cards) will fund a cash pool to pay for an award for the overall points winner.

  • A small portion of the funds, 10% or less, will be used to pay for the server costs for this website.

  • For more information, and to add your input to the upcoming tournament please join our free private forum and have something fun to look forward to every Saturday.

Sample Tournament Winner's Award

Depending on how many people join, we can offer at the minimum a silver engraved trophy cup, a gold-plated champions bracelet, or possibly even an engraved Rolex watch to the end of year champion! Tell other players about Ace10.com while you are playing regular games, and the prize pool will grow and allow us to offer the best we can do.
